How to Earn Free Gift Cards Playing Mobile Games with Rewarded Play

So getting free gift cards for playing new and exciting mobile games sounds like a pretty sweet deal, right? Well, that’s what the Rewarded Play app is all about. It says you can earn a free gift card in just a day or two of playing, and it’s one of the most popular apps in this genre. But is Rewarded Play a scam, or is it legit? Does it actually pay for playing games? Well, I downloaded the app on my Android phone, I spent a couple of days testing it out, and this Rewarded Play review is covering how it works, how much I made, and what some of the better alternatives are out there as well that you can use to make money by gaming.

What Is Rewarded Play?

Let’s get to it. All right, so just starting off, what exactly is Rewarded Play? Well, it’s a free mobile gaming app on Android devices that, like I mentioned, lets you play different mobile games in your spare time to earn free gift cards. Now, Rewarded Play is really similar to apps like Cash Draft or Just Play, you know, two other Android gaming apps I’ve covered on this channel before. And yeah, the app is pretty simple. It basically pays you to download Android games, play them, and then accomplish specific missions. You earn coins as you play new games, and you can redeem your coins for various free gift cards once you earn $5.

Now, Rewarded Play is only available in North America and Australia. So, if this isn’t the country you live in, don’t skip this video because, at the end of the video, I’m going to cover some much more globally friendly alternatives that you can use. But yeah, in a nutshell, Rewarded Play is an Android app, and it’s a fun way to basically download new mobile games on your phone and earn some free gift cards for your efforts.

How Does Rewarded Play Work?

Downloading and Setting Up the App

Right, so how does Rewarded Play work, and how do you actually make money with this app? Well, the first step is just to download Rewarded Play from the app store and then to create your account. Now, once you create your account, Rewarded Play is going to ask for app usage tracking permission. This is a little bit weird, but basically, Rewarded Play needs to be able to track the time you spend playing the games it gets you to download. This is what all Android gaming apps do, so don’t be alarmed. But you have to be comfortable with saying, “Yep, you can track the apps I use and track the playtime.” So, you just have to enable that setting.

Earning Coins Through Missions

From there, Rewarded Play encourages you to download a few games, and it says you should download three games because this is the fastest way you can get that first gift card reward. So, I followed the steps, and I downloaded three different games. The first one was Match Masters, which is basically a competitive puzzle game. The second is Golf Clash, which is just some golfing game, and then the third is Word Escapes, which is a very popular word puzzle game.

And so, the first thing I liked about Rewarded Play was it had a wide genre of apps you can download. So, there’s action, strategy, puzzle, card, sports games, you know, dozens of different gaming apps in the library, which I really liked. And yeah, you can start earning right away. You basically download an app from Rewarded Play’s suggested list, and then when you launch it through Rewarded Play, you start earning coins the more you play. But what’s really cool is Rewarded Play also has this more unique mission-based system. So, it might say, “Hey, we’ll give you some bonus coins if you play these games for a certain amount of time,” or we might give you bonus coins if you reach a certain level in each of these three apps. And so, again, it’s a little bit more complex than a lot of the other gaming reward apps out there, and again, I followed the steps and completed a mission and got a pretty substantial bonus for using each app for about 15 minutes. This mission system is also how Rewarded Play keeps things interesting, and again, you can always download new games to keep on earning. You can complete missions every single day, so plenty of ways to earn with the app, and it’s a little bit different than your average gaming reward app.

Earning Potential

How Much Can You Earn?

How much does Rewarded Play pay, and what should you expect in terms of earning potential? Well, just right off the bat, it took me about 7 days of a little bit of playing to get my first $5 gift card. And again, this is largely due to the mission-based system. So, you do earn coins as you play the games and you level up in those games, but that’s more of a trickle of coins, and it’s not a massive amount. But I got a 2,000 coin bonus, if I remember correctly, from just playing each game and completing certain missions in them. And again, it was fun. I really liked the puzzle game. The golf game was pretty bad, and then Wordscapes was kind of fun as well. So, the games were decent. It wasn’t hard to, you know, log into the app, check the missions, complete them, and yeah, I got my first $5 gift card in 7 days and probably about 4 hours of playing. Yet, it takes a little bit of effort. You’re not earning hundreds of dollars per hour, and you have to really enjoy mobile gaming for this app to make sense.

Other Ways to Earn

You can also earn coins by inviting your friends to join, and you get a $5 gift card if they cash out with a $5 gift card, which I thought was pretty cool. And Rewarded Play also has a new streak system that rewards active players with more bonuses. So, if you, again, play mobile games every day, it’s kind of a nice incentive to keep checking out the app.

Cashing Out Rewards

How to Cash Out

Cashing out in rewards—how do you get paid by Rewarded Play? Well, this is also a pretty simple step. You need about 12,000 coins to cash out a $5 reward, at least in Canada. So, the coin-to-dollar ratio is a little bit confusing, but the bottom line is you need $5 worth of coins to cash out. There’s also tons of gift cards to choose from: there’s Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, Target, Starbucks, Walmart. Rewarded Play also adds new gift cards and games quite often to keep things fresh, and yeah, I cashed out with an Amazon gift card. It came a few days later via email; that’s an electronic gift card, so you’re not getting a physical one mailed to you.

Limitations and Downsides

Now, one downside I will say is that PayPal cash isn’t available. So, I like Cash Draft and Just Play a little bit more for that reason in terms of rewards. But again, the gift card variety is pretty substantial, and it’s easy to cash out with one. Final note: Just know that you have to verify your phone number to cash out as well. So, I had to enter in my phone number, I got a text from Rewarded Play, and then I had to enter in that number to actually cash out. So, if you don’t have a phone number, this could be an issue.

Pros & Cons of Rewarded Play

Advantages

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Rewarded Play? Well, the first pro I want to mention is just the variety of games. You know, there’s tons of different genres, like I mentioned. So, if you like mobile games, there should be something for you. And the second pro is just that mission-based system. It’s a lot more engaging and unique than many other gaming reward apps I’ve tested out. So, I really, really like that aspect about Rewarded Play. And the third pro I want to mention is that some of the games are actually fun. I’m really used to testing out these apps, and like 90% of the games are ones I would never download, but Wordscapes was pretty fun, the match puzzle game was pretty fun, the golfing game sucked—like that thing was awful. But, you know, two out of three, I’ll take it.

Disadvantages

As for the cons, the first one just has to be there’s no PayPal cash. So, if you want real money for playing games, again, I have videos on this channel about that topic, or you can check out apps like Cash Draft. And the second con is just that Rewarded Play is now only available in three countries. It’s working on expanding, from what I know, but again, it’s in North America and Australia. What is the scam or legit score for Rewarded Play? I’m going to give it a four out of five. You know, I think the app delivers on what it promises. Its advertisements say, “Hey, you can earn a gift card in a couple of days.” That’s what I did. It worked, it paid on time, and I really liked that the apps also tracked properly. I didn’t have any glitches or issues with getting paid for the time I spent playing. Now, the lack of countries is a downside, so if you want another Android app that’s much, much more globally friendly and available, I highly suggest checking out Misplay. It recently added PayPal cash, which a lot of people don’t know about, but it’s a much more versatile app. You can also check out websites like GamPag or EarWeb. They’re from the same company, and they let you earn rewards by playing PC games. Buff is another one I’ve covered before as well, and it lets you earn passive rewards also by playing PC games like League of Legends, Valorant, and DOTA. So, I think it’s pretty cool.
