H2: Introduction
Hey everyone, it’s Tom here with ThisOnlineWorld.com, and I hope you’re all having a fantastic day today. So in this video, I’m covering six of the best apps and methods that pay you for walking. Yep, you heard me, you can actually earn real cash or gift cards just by walking and exercising and going about your daily life. Some of the ideas I’m covering in this video—and some of these walking side hustles—even have full-time potential, and one has paid someone over six figures. So it’s definitely super cool, and you don’t want to miss it. Let’s get to it!
H2: Airbnb Walking Tours
H3: A Lucrative Way to Earn by Walking
To kick off the video with ways you can make money walking or different apps that pay you to walk, I want to start with a bit of a story. I think it’s by far the most lucrative globally accessible way to just make money by walking.
So, sometime in 2019, I was living in Cape Town, South Africa, and one weekend I really wanted to go on a walking tour of a neighborhood called Bo-Kaap. Now, Bo-Kaap is a super beautiful neighborhood that has colorful houses and a really rich history in Cape Town. After a little bit of searching, I stumbled across some walking tours on Airbnb in the Bo-Kaap neighborhood. I ended up booking a walking tour with a guide named Rafi. We met on the colorful Bo-Kaap streets and spent about 1.5 hours walking around. We visited mosques, gardens, sculptures, a local café, and he even let me stop by his home, where we had some coffee.
There were two other people on this walking tour with me, and it cost me $50. So Rafi probably made about $40 once Airbnb took its service fee from the booking. I wanted to start with the story because becoming a walking tour guide or an Airbnb experience host is super popular and incredibly lucrative if you live in an area that’s popular for tourists. I mean, I’ve done walking tours in so many cities at this point, and these guides are making anywhere from $50 to $100 per person, depending on where the city is and the going rate for a walking tour. There are no qualifications here—you can study the history of the neighborhoods you’re touring, learn a little bit, learn how to talk to people, and become a decent guide. Some people even do this full-time.
H2: Evidation
H3: Earning PayPal Money for Walking
Coming at number two on this list of apps that pay you for walking is an app called Evidation. Now, Evidation used to be called Achievement, but it rebranded a few years ago. This is probably one of the more popular fitness apps that pay you, and it’s actually one I used back in college.
In a nutshell, Evidation is a free fitness app for Android and iOS that lets you earn PayPal money and gift cards for exercising and sharing your data. You download the Evidation app for free and connect it to either the health app on your phone or various fitness trackers and devices. From there, Evidation tracks your data and pays you points based on how much you’re exercising in a given day. Every 10,000 points in Evidation equals $10, and you can cash out for PayPal cash or a variety of gift cards.
H2: Miles
H3: Earn Points for Every Type of Travel
The third app that pays you for walking is one called Miles. Miles is essentially like Evidation, but for way more than just basic exercise. Miles pays you with points as you walk, bike, drive, take public transit, or even fly. It tracks all of your travel, records your data, and then rewards you with points. You can redeem your points for rewards like gift cards to Amazon and Starbucks.
If you’re a frequent traveler, you can earn decent points with Miles. You’re not earning $100 per month with this app, but if you’re already using other apps that pay you for walking, you can stack them together to earn a bit more.
H2: Rover
H3: Get Paid to Walk Dogs
The fourth walking side hustle you can check out is to become a Rover Walker. This is for the dog lovers out there—people who want to get paid to spend time with pets. Rover is a gig platform that connects dog and cat owners in neighborhoods across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe with trusted local sitters and walkers.
As a Rover gig worker, you can offer services like dog walking, pet sitting, daycare, or drop-in services. You set your availability and rates. Rover usually pays $15 to $25 per hour, and you can earn even more with services like overnight pet visits or doggy daycare.
H2: CashWalk
H3: Passive Income for Walking
The fifth way to make money by walking is to use an app called CashWalk. This is another app I’ve covered recently on the channel. It’s a fun passive income app that pays you with coins every day if you walk and share your data. It doesn’t make you rich, but you might earn $2 or $3 per month. It also has in-app surveys where you could potentially earn a bit more.
CashWalk offers gift cards to places like Amazon, Walmart, Google Play, Apple, Taco Bell, Starbucks, and Spotify. It won’t make you wealthy, but if you’re stacking it with other apps, you can earn a little extra cash on the side.
H2: Oppizi
H3: Become a Brand Ambassador and Deliver Flyers
The sixth side hustle you can use to make money by walking and exercising is to become an Oppizi brand ambassador. Oppizi is a marketing company that helps businesses advertise through flyer distribution. Once you sign up and get approved, you can accept Oppizi missions, which are basically three-hour time slots where you’ll deliver flyers to people’s mailboxes.
Oppizi pays $25 per hour in the US, which is a great rate, and it also compensates you for travel expenses and parking. It’s available in various countries, including the United States, Canada, several European countries, Mexico, and New Zealand.
H2: Apps to Avoid
H3: Be Cautious When Choosing Apps
Finally, I want to wrap up this video by mentioning some apps that might not be the best choice for making money walking. A popular one you might have heard of is Sweatcoin. While it claims to pay you for walking, it only rewards you with tokens that can be redeemed for discounts, not real cash. So be cautious when researching apps that pay you for walking.
There are plenty of fitness apps that promise rewards, but most don’t pay you real money; they only give discounts or rewards. So, be sure to do your research before jumping into any of these apps.
H2: Conclusion
That’s it for this video, guys! I hope you’ve enjoyed this breakdown of six different apps and side hustles you can use to make money by walking.
