Drop shipping, Amazon FBA, faceless AI YouTube channels—there are honestly so many methods to make money online these days, and a ton of these ideas also promise you’ll make $, to $, a month, move to Dubai, and start driving Lambos. But as I’m sure you guys know, a lot of these online side hustles are either too good to be true or they take months or even years to begin paying you and to scale into a serious income source.
And that’s why in today’s video, I’m truly taking things back to basics, and I’m covering seven legit ways you can make $ a day online, or maybe a little bit more. This is about $ extra per month in your pocket, and again, it opens up the door to making much more money online in a reliable, consistent way. Some pretty creative ideas in this one as well. You don’t want to miss it. Let’s get to it!

Idea 1: Use Reddit for Gigs
So the first method you can start to make $ a day online consistently and reliably is to use Reddit. Now, this might surprise you, but Reddit isn’t just for looking at memes or catching up on the latest Internet news. In fact, Reddit actually has some very creative ways to make money online, and it definitely beats competing with the millions of people on platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.
Subreddits for Jobs
There are subreddits like r/hire where Redditors post online gigs and jobs they need help with. And this really has all kinds of tasks that get posted daily, like virtual roles, editing essays, Photoshop and graphic design help, English and language tutoring, or social media gigs. Again, you can just browse through r/hire, and there are tons of different gigs available. They’re really easy to spot because people will post it with a “hiring” tag so you know they’re looking for someone to do a gig.
What’s also cool is that a lot of the gigs I’ve found here pay anywhere from $ to $ upon completion. There’s also a subreddit rule that no gig can be under $ an hour.
Other Subreddits to Explore
There are also other subreddits, like r/slavelabor, which is kind of the similar premise. Now, this one has much shorter gigs, and the hourly pay is a lot lower—like probably $3 to $5 an hour—but you can still find higher paying tasks on this sub. And again, there are gigs posted every single hour, basically, so there’s lots of opportunity, and it is way less competitive than trying to sell on Fiverr or Upwork.
You do have to manage payments with the Redditor you’re talking to, so there’s a bit of a trust-based system, but ultimately this is a very stable way to make $ a day online. I actually got two freelance writing gigs off of it way back in college. So again, Reddit is a gold mine for making money!
Idea 2: Test Websites, Apps, and Games
The second way you can make $ a day online in your spare time is to test websites, apps, and games for money. There’s actually tons of user-testing side hustles out there where you can get paid in free PayPal cash just for trying out some apps or games that are in development and then giving your honest feedback.
Sites for Testing
- Playtest Cloud: Test games and apps, and you get paid $ per test, with tests taking about 10 to 20 minutes.
- UserTesting: This is really a leader in the space, and you get about $10 to $15 per test, paid through PayPal.
- Userlytics: Another popular site, with tests paying anywhere from $5 to $40, depending on how involved the test is.
There are honestly tons more companies in this space, such as TestingTime, UserFeel, and all kinds of different usability testing gigs. You’re usually making $10 to $15 per test you complete, and you don’t need any previous experience.
Signing Up for Multiple Sites
It’s important to sign up for several websites and ensure you have email notifications enabled, as tests are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you apply to a few sites, you’ll get a regular stream of test invites sent to your inbox. Apply to them, and hopefully, you make a little bit of extra cash every single month.
Idea 3: Use Microtask Websites
The third way you can start making $ a day online pretty consistently is to use microtask websites. These websites pay you for completing short tasks like data entry, transcription, image annotation, or AI training help.

- ClickWorker: A perfect example of a microtask website. It operates in over 130 countries, is free to sign up for, and you can earn a couple of dollars per hour by completing a variety of microtasks.
- Appen: Another popular site, which also hires testers for longer-term or part-time projects.
- Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk): Though the pay is generally low, there are people who have made thousands of dollars from this platform by working efficiently.
Earning with Microtasks
Microtask sites aren’t usually high-paying, but they can be reliable ways to make $ a day online, especially if you’re just getting started and don’t yet have marketable skills. For $ a day online, these sites definitely work.
Idea 4: Get Involved with Mystery Shopping
The fourth way you can potentially make $ a day online is by using apps to get involved with mystery shopping. Big businesses out there really want to know how their stores are performing or what the customer experience is like, and so they hire mystery shoppers to basically go in and do a little bit of undercover digging for them.

You can make $50 to $100 for completing mystery shopping tasks, and it might be as simple as just heading to your local Walmart and taking a photo of something. So you can really make some decent money with mystery shopping, especially if you live in a decently sized town or city.
Idea 5: Participate in Online Focus Groups
The fifth way you can make $ a day online is to take part in online focus groups. This is similar to mystery shopping except you’re giving feedback on various research topics or participating in virtual interviews.

- UserInterviews: By far my favorite in this space, where you can sign up as a participant and browse available studies.
- Respondent.io: Another great one for finding niche research opportunities.
- FocusGroup.com: A website full of focus group opportunities.
You can realistically qualify for a few studies per year and make a few hundred extra dollars in income.
Idea 6: Use Survey Sites and Apps
The sixth way to make $ a day online is by using survey sites and apps. Survey sites were really my bread and butter back in college when I was phone farming.

- Survey Junkie: If you’re international and struggle to find survey sites in your country.
- Branded Surveys: Great for North America and the UK.
- Prime Opinion: Another good global option for surveys.
You probably won’t make $100 a day, but it’s a simple way to make a little bit of extra cash while taking the bus or watching TV in the evenings.
Idea 7: Start a Niche Online Business
The seventh and final way you can make $ a day online consistently—and also scale much higher than $—is to start some kind of niche online business.
Examples of Online Businesses
- Blogging: It took me a couple of months to reach $5 a day from blogging. A year and a bit later, I was making $50 a day.
- YouTube Channel: Once monetized, my YouTube channel started making $10 to $20 a day in AdSense revenue.
These small ideas can grow into much larger incomes if you’re consistent and put in the time and effort.
Setting Goals
Never let anyone laugh at you or say that you’re dumb or wasting your time if you start out with a small goal, like making $1 a day online. $1 a day goes so far in many countries, and even though it’s a small goal, it can really grow into something much larger.
