Intro
Hey everyone, it’s Tom here with this onlineworld.com. Hope you’re all having a fantastic day today. So, Starbucks is the most popular coffee chain in the entire world, and even though it tastes great, it’s not always known for being the most affordable. But the good news is, actually—wait, wait, just one second—
But the good news is that today, an ex-Starbucks barista (yes, I used to work at Starbucks) is going to share five legit ways you can get free Starbucks gift cards or drink Starbucks for free. So, if you want to get your coffee fix without spending a penny and save some money, this is the video for you. Let’s get to it!
Working at Starbucks
How I Paid for College
So yes, it is true. I used to work at Starbucks. It was one of the ways I paid for tuition. I worked there during college for a few years. It was a lot of fun, and over the course of working there and, you know, developing a slight Starbucks addiction myself, I learned a few ways to get Starbucks gift cards for free or to drink at Starbucks for free—you know, that didn’t involve stealing coffee from my workplace.
Alright, I’m gonna ditch this because I can’t wear it for the entire video and keep a straight face. But in this video, like I said, I’m covering five legit ways to get free Starbucks gift cards or drinks for free.
1. Drop App
So, I’ve mentioned Drop and other cashback apps on this channel before, but it is definitely my favorite way to get free Starbucks gift cards, and I’ve earned about actually—myself—by using Drop in free Starbucks gift cards. The app is very, very simple. So, all you have to do is go to the app store if you live in Canada or the United States, download Drop for Android or iOS, and then connect your bank account to the app.
How Drop Works
From there, you can spend at plus partners and earn Drop points every time you complete an offer or, you know, spend money at a certain merchant. And so what’s cool is that Drop works with tons of popular brands. Like, it works with Uber, it works with Walmart, you know, Sephora, Sportcheck, I think it works with Lululemon, like there’s a bunch of popular brands where you might be spending money anyways, so you might as well earn some points in the process. Once you earn those Drop points, you can exchange them for free gift cards, including gift cards to Starbucks.
Earning Starbucks Gift Cards with Drop
You have to earn Drop points, which is equal to… so it’s probably going to take at least three to four purchases at, you know, these different retailers before you get your free gift card. But again, I’ve earned about to in free Starbucks gift cards over the years just by kind of using Drop on the side. Like, I don’t really shop that much, so I haven’t earned that much, but again, if you’re shopping at some of these merchants that Drop supports, you could probably earn a free Starbucks gift card every month or two and then treat yourself.
What’s really cool about Drop is some offers pay like or more. There are some actual very lucrative cashback offers on the app. So, I’m gonna be linking Drop down below. There’s a review on this onlineworld.com if you want to check it out as well.
2. Shopkick
Earning Kicks with Shopkick
The second idea for how you can earn some free Starbucks gift cards is to use different mystery shopping apps. And so, one of my favorite apps in this genre is called Shopkick, and it actually lets you earn kicks (which is what the app calls its point system) in various ways. So, for example, Shopkick lets you earn kicks by walking into stores, scanning product barcodes, shopping online or shopping in-store for specific products, watching ads, and even taking photos of different store displays.
Redeeming Kicks for Starbucks Gift Cards
So, again, it’s kind of like this mix of a mystery shopping app and a cashback app. Like, you can earn kicks for doing small tasks, like literally just walking into a store. Like, the Apple ping you, and you’ll see kicks nearby. Just walk into Target, walk into Walmart, and you earn some points. The shopping offers do pay more points, so if you’re really looking to earn money with this app, you’ll want to check out the online or in-store shopping cashback offers.
But what’s really cool is you can redeem your kicks for a variety of free gift cards once you earn five dollars’ worth of kicks. And so Starbucks is one of the free gift cards you can redeem. And honestly, after a few shopping trips or using the app for maybe a week or two, you probably can earn a free Starbucks gift card. So, like Drop, another cashback/reward app, you’re not going to get rich, you’re not going to be drinking free Starbucks every single day with this app, but if you really love Starbucks and you want a freebie once in a while, it will definitely help you get there.
3. Starbucks Rewards Program
Joining the Starbucks Rewards Program
The third idea for you to get some free Starbucks drinks is, unsurprisingly, to join the Starbucks Rewards program. So, Starbucks, of course, is very good at rewarding loyal customers and roping them back in so they don’t go to Tim Hortons or Dunkin’ Donuts or whatever you guys have in the rest of the world—Costa in the UK or something like that.
How Starbucks Rewards Works
Yeah, they’re very good at keeping their customers loyal, and so the Starbucks reward program is the perfect example of that. It’s a free rewards program you can sign up for, and you basically earn stars (which is like their point system) for every dollar you spend at Starbucks. And so this program works a bit differently in every country, but the gist of it is you’ll spend money, you’ll get these stars in your app account, you know, in the Starbucks rewards program app, and then you can redeem that for things like a free drink, free food, or even swag, like those tumblers you see people walking around with sometimes.
Maximizing Rewards with the Starbucks Credit Card
What’s cool is members also get a birthday freebie. So, on your birthday, you can go in and get a free drink. So, it’s kind of another way to, you know, stretch your money a little bit farther and treat yourself once in a while. And so, in Canada, you need stars to get a free hot beverage. So, that’ll be something like, you know, coffee or tea. I don’t think it really works for, like, the, you know, fancier drinks, but that’s to get a free coffee.
That’s not a great rate, but again, if you’re getting Starbucks every day or you’re getting Starbucks for the office once in a while, and you’re spending money there regularly, you might as well sign up for the rewards program. You can go even farther and sign up for the Starbucks credit card in some countries, and that gets you a bunch of bonus stars, even more rewards and bonus stars for different kinds of spending, you know. So, you can definitely maximize your rewards here, although I wouldn’t recommend the credit card over a lot of other cashback credit cards, but that decision is ultimately up to you, right?
4. Grocery Reward Apps
Apps to Earn Points for Starbucks
The fourth idea for how you can snag some free Starbucks gift cards is to use different grocery reward apps. And once again, I have a lot of content on this channel and on thisonlineworld.com about reward apps that pay you for shopping at your favorite brands, and if you want to earn free Starbucks gift cards or any free gift card really, you might as well use these apps when you go shopping.
Apps for Earning Starbucks Gift Cards
And so, again, this would be using apps like Checkout or Ibotta or Fetch Rewards, and Fetch Rewards, I actually really like the most out of all of these apps, especially for Starbucks because it pays you with points for actually buying Starbucks products. So, you can go to the grocery store, buy those Starbucks drinks or the coffee beans or coffee grinds or whatever you want, you know, for your home, scan your receipt, get points, redeem those points for free Starbucks gift cards, and it’s this whole circle of, you know, shopping at Starbucks and getting free Starbucks.
Cash-Out with Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards also has the lowest cash-out requirement out of all these apps. You need three thousand points, which is worth three dollars to redeem a bunch of different gift cards. Some gift cards start at five dollars, but if you do most of the shopping for your household, you can probably earn, you know, a couple gift cards per month if you’re spending a decent amount of money.
Now, the downside of Fetch Rewards is it’s only available in the United States, so sorry for anyone who’s watching and who doesn’t live in the U.S. Check out Ibotta, it’s also in Canada. Ibotta’s in Canada and the U.S. as well, so hopefully, you guys have some reward apps where you live, but that’s the gist of it. You know, shop, get points, redeem them for gift cards, and at least you’re earning something. And again, you’re not gonna make hundreds of dollars, but on your quest to get some free Starbucks gift cards, every little bit counts.
5. Survey Sites
Using Survey Sites for Starbucks Gift Cards
The fifth and final idea to get free Starbucks gift cards is to use various survey sites or GPT sites that let you redeem Starbucks gift cards. And so, again, I don’t love survey sites. I have a video where I tried answering surveys for hours—it didn’t go that well, but if you want to answer surveys while you watch TV or, you know, once in a while in your spare time just to get some free Starbucks gift cards, this solution works.
Top Survey Sites for Starbucks Gift Cards
I did this a bunch in college. I earned a bunch of, you know, different gift cards with different GPT sites, and it does work, it’s just not very fun. And so, personally, I recommend checking out Branded Surveys or Survey Junkie. They let you cash out with just five dollars, and Starbucks
