5 Best Online Jobs for College Students (One Has Million-Dollar Potential!)

Introduction

Hey everyone. It’s Tom here with ThisOnlineWorld.com. I hope you’re all having a fantastic day today!

It’s been a while since I made a video on online jobs for students, and with the semester coming to an end, I figured it was time for an update. In today’s video, I’ll cover five awesome online jobs that you can use to make some extra money—either during the semester or over break.

One of the ideas in this video even has million-dollar potential! I know that because I interviewed people who are making a crazy amount of money from it. So, make sure to read until the end.

Let’s get into it!

1. Crypto & NFT Jobs

Why Work in Crypto and NFTs?

The world of crypto and NFTs is growing fast, and there’s a huge demand for skilled workers. I talk about crypto a lot—not because I’m a Gary Vee disciple—but because it’s a high-potential space with a lot of money flowing into it.

Where to Find Crypto & NFT Jobs

A great way to find these jobs is to Google search terms like “crypto jobs” or “NFT jobs.” You’ll find plenty of job boards with listings.

One awesome site to check out is CryptoJobList.com. I browsed through it and found jobs for:

  • Front-end & back-end developers
  • Graphic designers
  • Marketing specialists
  • Social media managers (even meme creators!)

Best Way to Get Started

If you’re a college student, use the “intern” filter to find beginner-friendly jobs. You can also filter for part-time roles to fit around your school schedule.

Major companies like Coinbase, Block, and Celsius post jobs on these platforms. If you’re skilled in programming, marketing, or design, landing one of these jobs could be amazing for your resume.

2. Retail Arbitrage

What is Retail Arbitrage?

Retail arbitrage is buying discounted products and reselling them for profit. This business model is surprisingly popular, and it’s the job I mentioned with million-dollar potential!

How Does It Work?

You buy popular products (apparel, books, electronics, toys, video games) at a discount from stores like:

  • Walmart
  • Kohl’s
  • Macy’s

Then, you flip them on platforms like:

  • Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon)
  • eBay
  • Facebook Marketplace

Million-Dollar Success Story

I interviewed Nate and Alyssa, a couple who started with $100, flipping products they found at Kohl’s. Now, they make $30,000–$40,000 per month in revenue!

If you’re looking for an online job with huge potential, this is definitely worth considering.

3. Do Homework for Money

Is This Ethical?

This one is controversial. Some people feel it’s ethically wrong to do homework for others. Personally, I didn’t care much about college, so I would have done it for extra cash. But it’s up to you!

How to Get Started

If you’re strong in a subject, you can:

  • Tutor students
  • Help with assignments
  • Sell class notes

Websites like StudyPool let you:

  • Sell your college/high school notes
  • Tutor students online
  • Help with homework assignments

StudyPool claims you can make up to $7,500/month—which is unrealistic. But you can still make decent side income if you’re consistent.

4. Podcast & Video Editing

Why is This a Good Online Job?

The demand for video and audio content is exploding. Almost every business is starting a YouTube channel or a podcast, and they need editors.

How Much Can You Earn?

There’s a huge range in pricing for video and podcast editing:

  • Some freelancers charge $8–$20 per project
  • Others charge $200–$500+ per project

How to Get Started

  • Learn video editing skills (YouTube tutorials, Udemy courses)
  • Create sample projects
  • Use platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, or Facebook Marketplace to find clients

Having an online portfolio is key! I’ve worked with video editors who simply emailed me their samples, and I ended up hiring them.

5. Data Entry Jobs

What is Data Entry?

Data entry isn’t glamorous, but it’s a steady and reliable way to make money online.

If you’re:
Fast at typing
Good with Microsoft Excel
Comfortable using computers

…this might be a good fit for you!

Where to Find Data Entry Jobs

  • Upwork – Offers both small and high-paying projects ($500–$1,000+)
  • Appen – A legit data entry and AI training job site
  • Google Search – Look for “data entry jobs for students”

The pay is usually $10–$20 per hour, but if you’re efficient, you can earn more.

Advice for College Students

The Possibilities Are Endless

I’ve made money through PPC advertising, ghostwriting, flipping textbooks, and marketing competitions. There are so many creative ways to make money online—you just need to find the right fit and stick with it.

How to Succeed with Online Jobs

  1. Pick a field that interests you.
  2. Learn the necessary skills (YouTube, Udemy, online resources).
  3. Build a portfolio.
  4. Start pitching clients on Fiverr, Upwork, or job boards.
  5. Be consistent and keep improving!

With the internet, you can learn anything for free. You don’t need a college course—you just need time and effort to build your skills and land work.
